Strange stories, even hard luck stories, can be true and worth listening to. Sometimes, they can help save your life. Focus on part of the story that you might be able to prove true, and then try to see if the story seems to show a pattern or theme in the persons life or in the workings of the area the person is from or lives in. Sometimes only one person will tell others what is really happening in a region. Perhaps this person has more skills at spotting trouble or expressing a problem. It is important to remember that what may seem strange in at one time and place can be commonplace in an other. Therefore, expect the unexpected. Truth is often stranger than fiction. If someone has many facts right suggesting special knowledge, they likely did not invent a story even if it is a very unusual or unexpected story. All through history the unexpected has happened.
